Decorative trowel technique

1. Substrate preparation

First, prime the surfaces with Jaeger Iso - Mineralgrund 309 as an adhesive primer. For highly absorbent substrates, a deep primer must be applied first. Then, depending on the roughness of the substrate, apply one or two coats of Jaeger Stucco Fondo with a Jaeger smoothing trowel or Veneziano spatula. After drying overnight, sand the filled surface with 320-grit paper/hand sanding.

2. Spatula technique

With the spatula technique, Jaeger Stucco Veneziano is applied in three thin layers, either tone-on-tone (Italian style) or in different colors (from light to dark). The gold, silver, brass, and bronze spatula techniques can also be used over the entire surface tone-on-tone or decoratively. The dry spatula application is sanded by hand with 1200 grit sandpaper and the surface is cleaned with a dust-binding cloth.

3. Polishing

3.1. Without coating

After drying, sand with P 600-1200 sandpaper as required, remove dust and polish to a high gloss with the Veneziano spatula.

3.2. With wax finish

For particularly exposed objects, such as sales rooms, restaurants, and hallways, a colorless protective coating with Kronen® Wax Finish 962 is recommended. To do this, apply Kronen® Wax Finish thinly over the entire surface with the Veneziano spatula and, after drying, polish to a shine with the stainless steel spatula. Applying the wax coating makes the color darker and more intense.

3.3 Machine

With Rotex RO 150FEQ gear eccentric sander (Festool). Sand with Platin 2 S2000 + S4000, then polish with lambskin.
