Fresco Veneziano is suitable for high-quality smoothed paintings in the traditional fresco style, for lime press and antique smoothing techniques, and marbling techniques on extremely stressed interior surfaces. In combination with Jaeger Antiqua, smoothed surfaces with a patinated effect (antique technique) can be created. Fresco Veneziano is a polishable mineral smoothing compound for porcelain-smooth smoothing techniques with a marble-like depth effect.

How to apply Fresco Veneziano
1. Prepare the surface
Clean the surface thoroughly and remove any loose particles. Consolidate highly absorbent surfaces with a deep primer. Apply Jaeger Iso-Mineralgrund crosswise with a brush to smooth surfaces as a bonding agent. After drying overnight, apply Jaeger Antiqua fine plaster in 1–2 coats with the Jaeger smoothing trowel and smooth if necessary. The effect is enhanced depending on the type of structure. Coarsely structured plaster with many ridges appears lively, while smoother plaster produces a calmer effect.
2.1. Smoothing technique
For the trowel application, apply Fresco Veneziano undiluted in two thin layers with the Jaeger smoothing trowel, using a stippling technique. Smooth each layer with a pressed smoothing trowel. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours between coats. Apply the second coat without moistening, as for the first trowel application.
2.2. Antique technique
Apply one coat of Antiqua fine plaster in any direction. After drying, apply the first coat of Fresco Veneziano in an intense color, and the second coat in a lighter shade the following day.
3. Polishing
Immediately after applying the last coat, polish the entire surface with the Jaeger smoothing trowel, applying strong pressure.
Processing conditions
During the entire processing and drying time, the material, substrate, and air temperature must not fall below 8°C or exceed 30°C. The air humidity should remain between 30% RH and 75% RH throughout the entire period.
Naturally ecological
Thanks to its high alkalinity, lime is a natural weapon against algae, mold, and fungi. It also has the ability to absorb moisture and release it again. This means that lime coatings ensure a balanced, healthy indoor climate. In addition to these positive technical and ecological properties, aesthetics are always a priority, as lime is an excellent material for design.
