Perlhauch® Aqua Patina Paint 935
Create stylish wrought ironwork with genuine patina effects
- Water-based formula
- Quick-drying
- For indoor and outdoor use
Perlhauch® Aqua Patina Paint 935 is a special acrylic-based paint that creates specific aging effects on metallic and painted surfaces. With its water-based formula, it is particularly suitable for finishing surfaces prepared with Perlhauch® Aqua Artistic Metalwork Paint. The paint adheres reliably to metal, wood, and painted surfaces and is easy to use: whether as a negative patina in recesses or as a positive patina on raised edges, it gives objects an individual character. Its weather resistance makes it ideal for decorative and protective applications indoors and outdoors.
Processing instructions for Perlhauch® Aqua Patina Paint 935, green
Substrate preparation
The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of grease, rust, or scale. Hot-dip galvanized parts require special cleaning or light sandblasting. Existing coats of paint should be sanded down and checked for adhesion.
Preparation of the patina paint
The paint must be stirred thoroughly before application, as metal pigments settle quickly. During application, frequent stirring is essential to ensure a consistent consistency.
Coating structure – step by step
Depending on the desired effect, there are two techniques to choose from:
- Negative patination:
- The surface is pretreated with Perlhauch® Aqua Kunstschmiedelack 245. Once completely dry, the patina paint is applied with a short-bristled brush and then wiped off with a cloth soaked in water so that the paint remains only in the recesses.
- Positive patination:
- Here too, pre-treatment is carried out with Perlhauch® Aqua Kunstschmiedelack 245, which must be allowed to dry thoroughly. An absorbent cloth is formed into a ball and moistened with patina paint. Excess paint is rubbed off on an absorbent surface. Then wipe over the edges, raised areas, and reliefs of the wrought ironwork with gentle pressure until the desired effect is achieved. If the patina paint dries too quickly, it is advisable to moisten the cloth with water beforehand. The paint should be applied quickly to prevent the edges from drying prematurely.
Processing conditions
During the entire processing and drying time, the material, substrate, and air temperature must not fall below 8°C or exceed 30°C. The relative humidity should be between 30% RH and 75% RH throughout the entire period.
High temperatures and low humidity accelerate drying, while low temperatures and high humidity delay drying.
